GROUND iNK landscape Architects was appointed as by Statewide Planning to prepare concept design and DA submission for this mid sized and unique development in the inner west Sydney suburb of Lewisham. Collaborating with Geoform Architects, the GROUND iNK team designed a simple landscape setting for the ground floor and communal mezzanine level in complete juxtaposition to the design of the built form. The planting design is intended to create a textured grassland landscape from which the built form emerges. Movement and sound will be created by prevailing winds through the landscape. A native low water use palette has been adopted which will also be low maintenance and hardy.

The communal terrace contains bench seating, a herb garden and BBQ facilities. Planting was selected to manage the micro-climatic conditions, receiving more sun in the winter months due to the low angle of the sun and the position of the level 1 terrace.
