GROUND iNK was commissioned by private developer Steve Divall as Landscape Architect for this contemporary apartment complex located across from the Horseshoe Bay at South West Rocks. The studio was responsible for producing the construction certification documentation for this medium scaled beach side residence.

Collaborating with Buck & Simple, the GROUND iNK team was challenged by the narrow site with maximum GFA. Generous outdoor and indoor/outdoor spaces extend the perceptible space of residents beyond the physical boundaries of the building. The building has a strong visual appeal to the street and the landscape needed to adhere to the vision of the client while also respecting the commanding views of the beach and Trial Bay from the site. Indigenous and local planting is used to soften the building’s presence and enhance connections to the natural context, which will strengthen over time as the plants grow and the external skin patinas.
